For thousands of years, the galaxy remained a graveyard of lost civilizations until a joint expedition from Earth discovered the Stargate leading to Pegasus. The arrival of the Atlantis Expedition marked a turning point, as they reawakened the city and began aiding the scattered human populations against the Wraith threat. This intervention reignited hope but also drew the attention of other dangerous factions, including the Replicators and the Asurans (the Ancients' rogue artificial lifeforms), ensuring that peace would remain elusive.
